Statoil Wins 79,000 acre Offshore Wind Lease Off New York

Norway’s Statoil has won a $42.5 million bid to lease 79,350 acres of federal waters 14 miles off the coast of Long Island to build an offshore wind project.  By 2030, New York has a goal to secure 50% of the state’s electricity from zero emission sources of energy.
